It's Movember!
There is a new charity event called "Movember" that is attempting to raise the awareness of prostate cancer among men during the month of November. The aim of Movember is to make male health fun by putting the Mo (moustache in Australian) back on the face of American men and in the process raise some serious funds and awareness regarding the number one male health issue today: prostate cancer.
Prostate Cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in the US with one in six men developing the disease. In 2007, more than 218,000 men will be diagnosed with the disease and more than 27,000 American men will die from the disease.
A team in my office are growing mustaches for the month of November to support this imporant cause. I would invite anyone else to join us - you just need to stop shaving your upper lip beginning tomorrow. You can also support us by making donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. We have set up a team name (Email me or comment here and I will send you our company team name) so that you can make donations here.
Women can also help our efforts by spreading the word about our team and helping us to raise money and awareness of prostate cancer. I really appreciate your help and support, and promise to post (or NOT post!) your picture here December 1st.
All donations are made directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation which will use the funds for high-impact research to find better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
