Wig Out!
A few months ago, my dear friend sexyrobot (of 'Louis Vuitton car' fame ) introduced me to the joy and madness that is Wig Out!
Brainchild of the lovely Jean Spinosa, it's a crazy wig/costume/theme night dance party held at M Bar every third Friday of the month. So far, I've attended as a (female) Drag Queen and as mustachioed Freddie Mercury. (Mmmmmm. Freddie Mercury)
So why am I telling you all this? Because I got to perform last night! Jean put together an amazing skit of 9 musicals in 4 minutes. I was one of the 'fancy dancers' acting as comic relief/backup dancer in selections from Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Mary Poppins, Annie, Cats, Oklahoma, Liza with a Z, and Les Miserables.
It feels really weird and self-indulgent to post about this, but dressing up and going out has become such a big part of my social life lately that I wanted to take a moment and really appreciate how very much my life has changed. Living in West Hollywood, in a good relationship, adopting a cat, circusfaerie in good health, going to school full time, and exploring avenues of creativity... this is pretty much everything I've ever wanted.
Given the fact that a big part of this blog is bitching about the little things, I think it's just as important to recognize when things are going well. Thanks, Universe!
Now, how about getting my car trouble fixed and lowering the temperature say, 5 or 10 degrees? (It doesn't hurt to ask!)
