Swoooooooooooon!!!

Holy Shit.

Josh Agle, also known as SHAG, the artist and creator of all things Space Kitty - just left me a voicemail message.

As an early birthday present to me, the incomparable circusfaerie took this book with her to Comic-Con this weekend. The plan was to get SHAG's autograph on this page, in honor of the print that I have at home. (Best. Valentine. Ever. Thanks, honey!)

Well - not only did she get his autograph (dedicated personally to Space Kitty!) but he also left me the following voice mail:

Hi, Space Kitty! This is SHAG. Your daughter asked me to call you. I'm just calling to say happy upcoming birthday. Since you're a Virgo and I'm a Virgo too, I know it's coming up soon and I'm just sitting here having a martini and thinking about you. Talk to you later, bye!

Wig Out!

A few months ago, my dear friend sexyrobot (of 'Louis Vuitton car' fame ) introduced me to the joy and madness that is Wig Out!

Brainchild of the lovely Jean Spinosa, it's a crazy wig/costume/theme night dance party held at M Bar every third Friday of the month. So far, I've attended as a (female) Drag Queen and as mustachioed Freddie Mercury.
(Mmmmmm. Freddie Mercury)

So why am I telling you all this? Because I got to perform last night! Jean put together an amazing skit of 9 musicals in 4 minutes. I was one of the 'fancy dancers' acting as comic relief/backup dancer in selections from Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Mary Poppins, Annie, Cats, Oklahoma, Liza with a Z, and Les Miserables.

It feels really weird and self-indulgent to post about this, but dressing up and going out has become such a big part of my social life lately that I wanted to take a moment and really appreciate how very much my life has changed. Living in West Hollywood, in a good relationship, adopting a cat, circusfaerie in good health, going to school full time, and exploring avenues of creativity... this is pretty much everything I've ever wanted.

Given the fact that a big part of this blog is bitching about the little things, I think it's just as important to recognize when things are going well. Thanks, Universe!

Now, how about getting my car trouble fixed and lowering the temperature say, 5 or 10 degrees? (It doesn't hurt to ask!)

Oh, no you DIDN'T!

Me: So, we're considering naming the cat SuperFluff.

Circusfaerie: ♫ He's a super fluff, super fluff, He's super-fluffy, yow; Super fluff, super fluff ♫

Me: Exactly! How did you know that? (Thinking the song was certainly before her time)

Circusfaerie: I'm Rick James, bitch!

Obligatory Cat Post

May I present.... the cat pictures.

I'm also accepting nominations for names*. He loves to suck his back toes - does anybody happen to know of any famous foot fetishists?

(Hell no, I'm not googling it. I'm sure I will be sorry I posted it. No, I'm not retracting it because it's just that funny.)

*Currently under consideration:
Superfluff (To the tune of Superfreak, of course)
Don Piano
Master Fluffins
King Fluffins
Baron Von Fluffington
Sheriff of Fluffingham

Squeeee!

We have a new member of the family here at the Space Kitty household - a gorgeous 9 month old male bengal cat. He's adjusting to his new home beautifully - he has the cutest little voice, is very affectionate and has the ridiculous habit of sucking his back toes. We're waiting to see how his personality develops so we can give him a proper name. I'll put pictures up as soon as I can.

And so the slippery slope into crazy cat lady begins...

New ink!

A week ago today, circusfaerie and I visited our friend Lisa at Art & Soul Tattoos for some new decorations.

I'm still looking for pictures of circusfaerie's lovely tree of life, but for the moment, here's my latest addition. I don't think I've ever been so happy with anything in my entire life. The three of us sat down and custom designed the piece, which Lisa drew free-hand. It's hard to see in flash photography, but the colors are vibrant and beautifully shaded. It's meant to look like stained glass, and she did an incredible job.

Lisa visits Los Angeles once a year, I recommend her to anyone who's looking to get amazing work done!

Anyway, not much posting lately - most of my free time has been spent either working on school stuff, or trying to escape school stuff. But at least I got 18/20 correct on my first pre-algebra quiz!

Now back to the salt mines.
