Vacation update!
So the week-long graduation celebration has begun! Travel into Denver was nearly flawless - my shiny new Ipod saved me from the super shuttle guy's right-wing talk radio, on the flight the seat next to me was empty, and the Denver airport is the easiest airport in the world for directionally challenged people like me.
And then, the rental car drama.
You see, I booked my travel through a package agency. Flight, car, hotel. Then in a fit of genius I lost my ATM card - on a Saturday, after the banks had closed. WAMU, who only loves you if you have a large bank balance, miraculously offered to fedex an emergency ATM card to me here in Denver. So far, so good. Except BUDGET RENTAL CAR refused to rent me the car that I had already paid for through the package agency! (They call it Budget for a reason. Be sure to send your business elsewhere) Using true corporate logic, the travel package agency has decreed they can only refund the money to the now-cancelled ATM card. Fabulous.
So the wonderful Kimberly and jim_t picked me up at the airport to the sounds of the squeal heard round the world.
Naturally, went to happy hour. The first place we tried was in a hotel and had free snacks and 2 for 1 drinks. And absolutely no happy. There was NO ONE THERE. No music, no atmosphere and CNN War News on the big screen tv. We drank as fast as we could and bolted for Bennigans, which has tasty, tasty potato skins stuffed with chicken and excellent bloody mary's and 7 & 7's.
We ended the evening with the 4 cats, Talk Soup, Tequila Rose and goodies from Sonic. Just like old times. Now, that's how to start a vacation!
