3 day weekend!

Started out Friday with a highly mediocre dinner at Cheebo. One of our neighbors recommended it, and the menu sounded great. It turned out to be one of those restaurants you really want to like but somehow the vibe was all wrong. What should have been fun and funky turned out pretentious, annoying and overpriced. The admittedly adorable server didn't help matters much - he was so busy fawning all over the guests at the next table (celebrities?) that he forgot to tell us about the specials and reserved all the cold, unsalted chips for us. Maybe I should have stuck to cocktails?

Saturday started out rainy, then turned into a gorgeous but chilly day. Found an awesome furniture store in Little Tokyo, and now I want one of everything that they have in stock. Got cheap sushi (which sounds more tragic than it actually is) and a bunch of goodies for the week. I'm back on a 'let's cook at home' binge - hopefully I'll be able to maintain better (spending and eating) habits that way.

Sunday was the LA Auto Show with sexyrobot. Let it be known that he's the only person on the planet capable of dragging me there. The two high points of the day: 1) I got to visit my mini in person. (Soon, darling - SOON!) 2) And - ok, sit down - I can't find an image, so this'll take awhile.

Visualize a man's face. Trace an imaginary line (oh, about the width of a sharpie pen) from above the ear, where eyeglasses sit. Take that line and draw it down and around the base of the jaw, then go up over the opposite ear. Continue that line down, back and across the back of the skull at the point where a typical conservative man's haircut would end, completing an unbroken loop.

Now imagine that someone shaved their head/beard into that pattern, that you're me, you're standing BEHIND that fool at the LA Auto show and your job is not only to avoid cracking up, but furthermore, you're NOT allowed to take a picture! I nearly imploded.

Today we walked to the Farmer's Market (Walked! In January! I love my neighborhood.) scored fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs and bread. They even have a fishmonger! This is gonna be good.

Afterwards the_bone and I went to the final day of the Cezanne & Pissarro exhibit at LACMA. He was able to score VIP tickets from a colleague, which meant no waiting in line. It was a wonderful show and I got so much more out of it after the Art History class I took last semester. This (Paul Cezanne's Sous-Bois) was one of the last works on display - it was breathtaking in person. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to see it.

I will try to get back in the habit of posting more frequently, I've really missed it.

Heh. I originally read this as 'corner market.'

I love me some pocky. And noodles. And tofu, and spicy tuna! And real crab California rolls!

Oh, hell, I'm hungry again.
