* Try to sign up for benefits, and the website doesn't work.
* Try to call HR for a work around and my phone doesn't work.
* Try to email HR to alert them of the problem, and the email bounces back.

Check out Chris Clarke's gorgeous collection of love letters to the desert, gathered from all over the web: Carnival of the Arid. It explains better than I ever could what the big whoop is about the desert - a part of the world that is too often dismissed as empty and barren.
